"The Fleming Clan of Scotland: a genealogical history" - coming in late 2026!
Dalnottar and Blairmore were granted to Hugh of Dalnottar between 1225 and 1235 by Malcolm, son of the Earl of Lennox. Hugh retained possession of Dalnottar in 1274 when he was summoned by the archdeacon of Dunblane to attend the King at Dumbarton to prove his ownership.
In 1368 Malcolm Fleming of Biggar, as chief of the Fleming clan, resigned ownership of Dalnottar in favour of Robert de Erskine of that ilk. A few months later Malcolm's son Patrick formally exchanged Dalnottar with Robert de Erskine for the lands of Bord in the Barony of Lenzie. Patrick is the progenitor of the Bord sept of the Fleming clan.
